London demands justice for Caruana Galizia
The Maltese High Commission in London, covered in demands for justice for Daphne Caruana Galizia.
As the campaign mounts in Malta for justice for the murdered journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia, campaigners in London have demonstrated outside the Maltese High Commission. The campaign, strongly supported by the Commonwealth Journalists Association, drew protestors from the Maltese community in London, and human rights and free speech activists. They held a candle-lit vigil outside the High Commission and plastered its doors with pictures of Caruana Galizia and messages of support. The journalist had an outstanding record in exposing corruption among Malta’s business and political elite. She was killed in October 2017 when a bomb exploded in her car. The Maltese prime minister, Joseph Muscat, has resigned in the wake of the growing scandal over her death. A prominent businessman with alleged links to government officials has been charged with complicity in the murder.
