Caroline Jackson is the new chairperson of the Commonwealth Journalists Association (CJA) Sarawak branch, taking over in July from Florence Yii who has led the branch since since its inception five years ago.
In her parting message, Yii said even though the setting up of the CJA Sarawak have gone through some tough moments, it has managed to achieve its objective to to fight for the betterment of journalists in the State.
She said with help of AZAM, CJA Sarawak has managed to organise the 8th CJA Conference in Kucihng here last year and managed to recommend Adeline Liong to take part in a journalism training in the UK in 2005.
In accepting the post (elected unopposed), I expressed confidence that the new office bearers will continue to bring CJA Sarawak to greater heights and also thanked the outgoing chairman as well as outgoing secretary Rosalind Yang for their committment and contributed towards making it a respected organisation.
The new office bearers are as follows: Chairperson: Caroline Jackson, Vice Chairperson: Alice Wee; Secretary: Peter Sibon; Assistant Secretary: Adeline Liong; Treasurer: Liu Chin Siu; Assistant Treasurer: Aden Nagrace; committee members: Jack Wong, Bong Siak Boon, Rosalind Yang, Lee Ngu Lim and William Chan.
The meeting also unanimously agreed to co-opt Florence Yii as CJA Sarawak advisor in recognition of her past contribution.
