Wishing the best of luck to the Australian authorities for 2018 games, members of the Commonwealth Journalists Association (CJA) Pakistan have lauded the efforts of Scottish officials in making the XX Commonwealth Games 2014 a memorable one.

Expressing their views at the general body meeting in Karachi, the media practitioners hailed every single event at the 12-day long sports gala. They also praised the marathon effort of Australian pop star Kylie Minogue who performed seven songs at the closing ceremony in Hampden Park in Glasgow and hoped to see an even better effort at the 2018 games that is scheduled to be held in Gold Coast, Australia.

Participation of more than 2,000 volunteer performers at the gala portrayed discipline and zeal while the participation of over 6,500 athletes and officials from 71 countries underlined Commonwealth nations’ catchword ‘Connecting Cultures’, the CJA Pakistan said.

Besides appreciating the efforts of the officials of host nation Scotland, members of the Commonwealth Journalists Association Pakistan hailed the Scottish nation for the spirit in which the event was held. Australian authorities will have to do all in order to make the 2018 games a better one, said a member of the association.

The meeting focused on the possibilities of raising funds to bear the expenses of at least one member of the CJA Pakistan to go at the venues to witness the future commonwealth games. It also focused on proposing a joint-fund to ensure that at least some members of the CJA family visit the future games to record their presence at the four-yearly event.
